38^ Edition – Saturday 6 July
Summer means holidays and fun but also astonishment and wonder and the lake of Como is the protagonist. Every year, at the end of June, about a thousand of people from all around the world arrive on the banks of the lake to enjoy the fireworks.
This event lights up the summer nights in the area.
The most famous event is that the island Comacina fire. It is coinciding with the Sagra of San Giovanni which recalls a historic bloody event dating back to 1169 where the few survivors ferried to Varenna to seek shelter and establish a new community “The Insula Nova”. Every year, the two coastal villages Varenna and Ossuccio, thanks to the municipalities, they renew this bond with historical reenactments and fantastic fireworks.
This year, the 38^ edition of the Festival of the Varenna Lake is celebrated.
A program full of activities and events to discover and admire the traditions of the place and the typical flavours that only the Lake Como can offer.
