The Intelvi Valley

Choose a home in a lesser-known location to get more for your money. The Intelvi Valley

Less famous than the hotspots of Lake Como, the Intelvi Valley is becoming a popular destination for those looking to buy a holiday home or who want to live surrounded by nature without spending a fortune.

The search for silence, tranquillity and more spacious living quarters can certainly come to an end in the Intelvi Valley.

The Intelvi Valley connects Lake Como and Lake Lugano; a green valley that still offers the colours of the seasons, a handful of villages where the largest centre is San Fedele Intelvi, which offers many services and shops, and the highest village is Lanzo di Intelvi at an altitude of almost 1,000 metres.

The ancient villages still retain the flavour of their history, with narrow streets, wash houses, small paved squares and churches, bordering large agricultural and pastoral areas where silence reigns supreme.

Many people, discouraged by the crowds and high prices of the Lake Como resorts, are looking for a more authentic lifestyle in this valley.

The Intelvi Valley connects Lake Como with Lake Lugano. Going up from Argegno, the first town in the Intelvi Valley is Dizzasco, the most popular location due to its proximity to the lake. The highest is Lanzo d’Intelvi with its Balcony of Italy, which offers spectacular views on clear days. Castiglione and San Fedele are the most urbanised centres and offer numerous services and shops.

Until 1920, the Intelvi Valley was a fashionable resort, where the Milanese upper middle class owned beautiful Art Nouveau villas that still stand today in large gardens, especially in Lanzo Intelvi.

After a long period of decline, the Intelvi Valley has now regained the interest of Italian and foreign buyers, as it still offers good value for money.
