Lake Como road closure: works between Argegno and Valle Intelvi (2026)
Travellers moving between Lake Como and the Valle Intelvi should be aware of temporary road closures in spring 2026.
Starting in mid-March, roadworks will affect the main provincial road connecting the lake to the valley. The project involves upgrades to the local water supply system and will require temporary traffic closures during specific daytime hours.
The works aim to improve the efficiency and reliability of the water network serving Valle Intelvi and surrounding communities.
Where the roadworks are located
The construction site will affect a section of the Strada Provinciale 13 della Valle d’Intelvi, within the municipality of Argegno, on the western shore of Lake Como.
This road is one of the main access routes from Lake Como to the mountain villages of Valle Intelvi and is frequently used by residents, visitors, hikers and second-home owners.
SP13 closure dates and times:
According to the ordinance issued by the Provincia di Como, traffic will be temporarily suspended with the following schedule:
- Dates: 16 March – 17 April 2026
- Daily closure: 8:15 am – 3:00 pm
- No closures on: Saturdays and Sundays
- Easter break: 3 – 6 April
During closure hours, emergency services and law enforcement vehicles will still be allowed to pass.
Access to Valle Intelvi during the works
Despite the temporary closure of the road from Argegno during the indicated hours, Valle Intelvi will remain accessible through alternative routes.
Drivers can reach the valley via Sant’Anna and the municipality of Schignano, which allows traffic to bypass the section affected by the construction works.
This route will be the main alternative connection between Lake Como and Valle Intelvi during the daytime closures.
Works expected until June 2026
